A third fundamental contribution, after the syntheses provided by K. Th. Dimaras and Pashalis M. Kitromilides (the book Greek Enlightenment. Political dn Social Ideas by Prof. Kitromilides was translated into Romanian in 2005 by Olga Cicanci), Anna Tabaki’s work, directly related to present-day Romania, is of major interest to Romanians researching the 18th century. It contains plenty of reference to literary works by the Greek scholars who made a name for themselves on Romanian soil, to the contacts and interrelation between the two cultures. The author underscores more than once the connection between this area and the European Enlightenment, the fact that Enlightenment ideals were taken over and creatively assimilated.
